Meet Denise

Denise has been at home in the water from a very young age, learning to swim early and competing throughout her teenage years. Her passion for swimming naturally led her to train as a swimming teacher and this was when she first discovered Water Babies.

Denise then immediately jumped at the opportunity to become a Water Babies teacher in Dublin, combining her two greatest passions — swimming and working with children.

In 2012, when the opportunity arose to open the Water Babies franchise in Cork & Kerry, Denise and her husband Dave with their two children Aaron and Hannah made the big move from their home in Ratoath, Co. Meath, relocating their young family to West Cork.

Fast forward 14 years, Dave and Denise , alongside their amazing team, continue to deliver exceptional Water Babies lessons across Cork & Kerry. Their passion and dedication to creating the very best experience for families shines through in every class, helping babies and toddlers build vital water confidence and safety skills from the very beginning.

The team are deeply passionate about supporting and developing their teachers, carers and babies  helping them become the very best they can be through a strong understanding of baby development, swimming techniques, and teaching skills.

Both Dave and Denise are hugely proud of their daughter Hannah who has followed in Mammy’s footsteps and recently qualified as a Water Babies teacher.

Outside of Water Babies, Denise is a keen open water swimmer and enjoys swimming almost daily in the waters of West Cork. Her achievements include swimming the English Channel as part of a relay team in 2022, as well as completing a ratified 16km swim from Sandycove in Cork to the Old Head of Kinsale and on to Garrettstown Beach. She is also a qualified open water swimming coach.

In recognition of her achievements, Denise was awarded Best Female Newcomer at the 2022 Irish Long Distance Swimming Association Awards.
